Should Brett Kavanaugh be on the Supreme Court? Hell No

By James Turnage, author of “A Little Murder in the Biggest Little City”

Should Donald John Trump be President of the United States? Hell no. The fact that he lacks experience and is unwilling to learn how to perform the job for which he was illegitimately elected is sufficient to remove him from office. The fact that he is a self-admitted sexual predator, an adulterer, and has been accused by more than 20 women of sexual assault makes him unfit to be the president, but more importantly unfit to call himself a man.

When Brett Kavanaugh was nominated for the Court allegations began to surface about his lack of character. If any position in our nation’s government requires perfect character, it is a Supreme Court Justice.

During Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings I found more reasons to be embarrassed that Republicans control the senate and the executive branch. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford spoke clearly and intelligently about sexual assault by Kavanaugh during their college years. Like Anita Hill in 1991, she was articulate and believable, and received similar treatment by the old white men in the senate.

Sadly, Chuck Grassley, and other old, white men in this Republican Party in name only acted like asses and not only rudely questioned her, they called her a liar and defended Kavanaugh. These were not hearings, they were a coordinated personal assault on a respectable woman. The old, white man’s club rose its ugly head once more.

There are new allegations against Kavanaugh, and your illegitimate president suggested that he should sue the media for reporting the truth. Oh, how the right-wing hates the truth.

More importantly, today it was revealed that during the hearings, a Democratic senator contacted FBI Director Christopher Wray informing him that he had additional evidence of Kavanaugh’s sexually deviant behavior. Wray ignored the information and allowed Kavanaugh to be confirmed by a biased and hypocritical Republican senate.

Senator Chris Coons asked Mr. Wray for “appropriate follow-up” with a former Yale classmate of Justice Kavanaugh’s, who had information that might have buttressed a claim by another classmate, Deborah Ramirez, that Mr. Kavanaugh exposed himself to her during a drunken dormitory party in 1983, their freshman year.

The once “Grand Old Party” has disappeared. These men and a few women who now claim to be Republicans are corrupt and violate their oath of office every day. They are unworthy to be in public office. Led by Moscow Mitch, not a single Republican is worthy of respect from any American. They have failed to earn it.

Trump and the Trump Party have made a mockery of the government of the United States of America.

Let’s kick their old asses out of Washington on November 3, 2020.

“The truth lives here.”
