This story is probably a waste of time. However, I am so tired of the lies and misdirection from the right-wing, I believe that exposing another Republican Party in name only hypocrite is necessary to expose the right-wing’s efforts to destroy my America.
You probably notice that I often relate to “my America.” At 73 years of age, I was obviously raised in the 1950’s and 60’s. As an original ‘baby boomer’ my youth was surrounded by patriotism and national pride as my father and my uncles returned from WWII after defeating the Nazis and the Emperor of Japan and his armies.
When I began elementary school, I was one of millions of other children across America who proudly recited the “Pledge of Allegiance” before classes began each day. Sadly, in the 21st century the words of that declaration mean little.
At family gatherings, I heard few tales from my uncles or my biological father about the war, but their loyalty to the United States was obvious. They were proud to have served their country and defend freedom for its people.
Because I graduated from high school in 1964, I was affected by the unwise and controversial war in South Vietnam. I enlisted in the Air Force in 1964 and was never assigned to the war zone. However, several young men who were a year or two behind me in high school came home in body bags or seriously injured. None of us understood why we were fighting another country’s war half-way around the world. I don’t understand it today.
Protected by the first amendment, we protested the war. We were harassed and verbally attacked by older Americans; claiming we were not loyal to America. This was far from the truth. We loved our country and our country was composed of the men and women who were forced to fight a senseless war which had no relation to our nation’s security.
Therefore, when I hear right-wing politicians support the actions of the Trump administration today; an administration which opposes the Constitution, democracy, and the rights of all Americans; I am appalled and angry. I understand what it means to be a real American.
Candace Owens is a young woman whose skin is black but whose politics support the lies and treachery of the Republican Party. She is a paid pundit of the right wing who disgraces every black American in our nation. She is one of the few “right-wing’s” token blacks.
She testified before congress about the rise of white supremacy in America today; these were her responses.
“Early on in Friday’s hearing before the House Oversight Joint Subcommittee, Owens—who late last year said Adolf Hitler was ‘OK’ before he tried to go global—downplayed the threat of white supremacy in the United States, calling it nothing more than a fringe issue.” Really! Once again “I can’t make this shit up.”
Although the KKK, and other hate groups murdered thousands of black Americans in the 1900’s and continue to commit hate crimes, she defended these hate groups and denied their negative influence on black America.
“If we’re going to have a hearing on white supremacy, we are assuming that the biggest victims of that are minority Americans,” Owens stated. “And presumably this hearing would be to stop that and preserve the lives of minority Americans. Which based on the hierarchy of what’s impacting minority Americans, if I had to make a list of 100 things, white nationalism would not make the list.”
Owens is either terribly misinformed or is creating her own agenda. If she associated with other black Americans, she would be ostracized as a traitor to her race.
If America is ever to become “great;” if our nation wants to move forward into the 21st century; we must destroy racism and bigotry in America. The very premise of our nation is individual freedom and equality for all. Anyone who is racist cannot claim to be an American.
Owens should crawl back under her rock; she is a disgrace to the Constitution and what the American flag actually stands for.
“The truth lives here;” spread the word.
