Trump has many paid advisers in his incompetent cabinet and other positions but refuses to consult them before making hasty decisions. The only two people he trusts and occasionally listens to are Jared and Ivanka, who know even less than the orange man.
Journalist Tom LoBianco, who has covered Mike Pence’s political career since its very beginning, previewed his new biography, “Piety & Power,” on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“Over the summer he had two terrible events in July,” LoBianco said. “The weird thing where he flies out to New Hampshire, gets called back to the last minute. Then they send him to a detention camp and there is a terrible video of him with a grim face, which should have been Trump. That should have been the president, not the vice president, that’s what VP’s aides and allies are telling me. They see that as Trump yanking on the leash.”
“These are fealty tests, these are loyalty tests,” he added. “For some of them they feel it is incredibly demeaning of him, and it goes to this point of him playing the long game. He has to survive, you know, the talk … about Jared (Kushner) and Ivanka (Trump), ways to get rid of him. Politically, you need to bring back suburban voters and women.”
Once again Trump’s one-sided loyalty raises its ugly head.
Pence has been loyal to Trump to a degree which is often embarrassing.
I am not supporting Pence; he is as bad if not worse than the orange man. His level of homophobia is disgusting, and his fake claims about his “Christianity are revolting. He opposes the teachings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, and cannot be called a “Christian.” However, Trump’s next choice could be even worse.
My guess is that Pence is already out of the picture. Trump desperately needs someone who can help him in the 2020 election, and that’s not Pence.
Politics is the ugliest profession in the world, and to call it a profession is sad. Our founding fathers never intended public service to become a career. Republican politicians are vile cowards who quickly choose hypocrisy over reality. Their actions demand congressional term limits.
The bottom line is this is another sign of implosion within the right-wing. Infighting is common. The party has moved so far to the right they are unable and unwilling to deliberate the issues and find compromise. This is the only way democracy can be an effective form of government.
Not a single Republican deserves your vote in 2020. Change is mandatory.
