Trump’s foolish decision to remove American forces from the border between Turkey and Syria resulted in multiple disastrous situations in the Middle East.
The two men who are thrilled with Trump’s action are Syrian leader Bashar al Assad and the orange man’s handler, Vladimir Putin. Putin supplies much of the military equipment used by Assad in his effort to slaughter his own people. Once again it appears that Trump’s decision was made after he received instructions from Putin.
Both houses of congress have voiced their objections to another rash and foolhardy decision made by a man with little intelligence and an enormous ego. The House condemned the removal of American forces by a vote of 354-60. Surprisingly, Senate Majority Leader, Moscow Mitch McConnell, firmly voiced his opposition to Trump’s unilateral decision.
Former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus told NPR’s Michel Martin that he agrees with McConnell’s strongly-worded assessment.
“The Kurds always used to say … that [they] have no friends but the mountains, and I would reassure them,” Petraeus said. “I would say, ‘Americans are your friends.’ … And sadly, this is arguably a betrayal.”
Congressional leaders must walk into the Oval Office when Trump leaves the residence around two in the afternoon, and tell the orange man; “you’re fired.”
