He was attending the funeral of the late Elijah Cummings. Cummings who was renowned for his lifelong fight for human rights and equality. He came face to face with Moscow Mitch McConnell who attempted to shake his hand; he declined the offer.
The man, identified as Bobby Rankin, one of the pallbearers, told The Washington Post on Monday he blamed McConnell for denying veterans’ benefits to his brother before he died last October from cancer after being exposed to contaminated water while serving in the Marines.
“When I saw Mitch McConnell, all I saw was my brother’s face,” Rankin told the Post.
After shaking Chuck Schumer’s hand, he skipped Moscow Mitch and shook hands with Nancy Pelosi.
“I could not put my hands in the man’s hand who refused to help somebody who served his country,” Rankin told the Post, later adding, “I couldn’t do it, because I was thinking about my brother.”
Moscow Mitch has no interest in the welfare of our military or the American people. He is the reason for our dysfunctional government. Since congress was sworn in on January 3, 2017, the House passed more than 200 bills; Moscow Mitch blocked a vote in the Senate on every one of them.
Mr. Rankin was doing the right thing to snub the worst Senate Majority Leader in history. I hope that the people of Kentucky will do the right thing for their state and their country and elect Amy McGrath. She will serve the American people and not place her party in priority number one.
