A ‘Blue Wave,’ or a Wave of Diversity?

republican-lies

If the general election was held today, the Democratic candidate would crush Trump in the popular vote. The problem remains the unconstitutional Electoral College. Republicans could not win another presidential election if this unfair rule did not exist. It’s a simple truth; the people should choose their president. Every vote should count.

Last night’s elections were interesting and historic. Although the victory in Kentucky’s gubernatorial race by the Democratic candidate was important and confirmed voter’s belief that our nation must move back towards the left of center, it was the taking of both the House and Senate in Virginia’s state elections which placed the state in the “blue” column which defines America in 2019.

Some television journalists are quick to call Andy Beshear’s victory over Matt Bevin in Kentucky, one of our nation’s reddest states, a sign of a new blue wave in America, I’m not so sure. One of the candidates who helped Democrats take control of the state legislature in Virginia is Ghazala Hashmi. She defeated her Republican opponent in the Virginia state senate and becomes the first Muslim woman to be elected to the chamber.

If we look at Bevin’s record in Kentucky, it is fair to claim that voters were intent on removing him in equal proportions to voting for Beshear. Bevin is a racist and a bigot of enormous proportions who denied his low-income residents extended Medicaid programs, and fought against improving the state’s public education system, among other harmful policies.

In Virginia, I believe the victory by Democrats was a statement. Republicans in the legislature constantly rejected the state’s Democratic governor’s efforts to change the status quo.

What I believe is that Democratic and Independent voters were voting for themselves. The entire Republican Party is racist and bigoted, and Trump confirms this fact every time he holds a hate rally. Our nation is becoming more diverse every day. Our country’s people, with the exclusion of white supremacists, are joining the rest of developed nations and embrace minorities, men and women who practice a faith which is not Christian, the LGBTQ community, and equal rights for women. The right-wing continues to oppose all these Americans, and refuses to offer them equal treatment under the law.

The truth is that millions of American workers are making wise choices. They are voting for candidates whose policies are most closely aligned with their own needs and wishes. These men and women are aware that when the vote for the best candidates, they are voting for themselves. Political parties are unnecessary and have ruined our country. When politicians place their party ahead of the people they are intended to represent, the people suffer.

I believe that on November 3, 2020, there will be a new wave in America; a wave of diversity. Younger Americans and women will go to the polls in historic numbers and take back our country from the enemies of the American people; Republicans.

Please spread the word; the truth lives here. I continue to boycott Facebook’s prejudicial policies and no longer post my articles on this failing social media.
