Does anyone but me remember the hideous events in 2016 which were misnamed “the Republican Debates?” What was important to the American people; the issues; were left on someone’s desk somewhere. Every debate was a series of attacks from Donald Trump and weak counterattacks from his opponents. They were an absolute disgrace to debates in high school and college. These morons all wanted to become your president, and one of them did; sort of.
Last night 10 of the Democratic candidates participated in a debate at Tyler Perry’s studio in Atlanta, Georgia. The titles of articles posted today referring to the debate in the mainstream media included, “5 Takeaways From The 5th Democratic Debate,” “Democratic debate: Here are the winners and losers from the November stage,” and “Who won Last Night’s Democratic Debate.”
Thanks to failed GOP politicians in 2016, the media appears to have forgotten what presidential debates are all about. The purpose is to allow each candidate to offer their positions on the important issues facing our nation. The ‘debate’ portion of the discussion reveals the manner in which each candidate might address these issues if elected. There can be no winners or losers; the American people will decide who wins or loses in the primary elections and caucuses.
I remain an Independent. However, I have not found a single Republican candidate I could support for the last 19 years. For me the once Grand Old Party no longer exists. Not a single member of this Republican Party in Name Only, RINO, has the principles and ideas of Republicans past.
Therefore, I am proud that each of the Democratic debates has been focused on the issues. Since his illegitimate win in the Electoral College in 2016 Trump has neglected to address a single major issue facing our nation on election day. There has been no effort to provide healthcare for all Americans. Tens of thousands of men, women, and teenagers continue to lose their lives each year because of the opioid crisis. America ranks 17th in education in all developed nations; college is unaffordable for most Americans. The gap between “the haves” and “have nots” is widening. Not a single ‘good paying’ job has been created in nearly three years.
Trump has created additional problems. He has divided our nation to a level not seen since the Civil War. America’s farmers are losing their businesses at the fastest rate in more than a decade. There are more mass shootings in America each year than days on the calendar. The right-wing continues to attack the first amendment; weakening America’s democracy. Thanks to Moscow Mitch McConnell, our elections are wide open to interference from foreign nations. Hate crimes have risen more than 800 percent since Trump’s nomination in July of 2016.
Trump has accomplished nothing. He has been too busy golfing, partying at Mar-a-Lago, watching television, and holding hate rallies.
The mainstream media has failed to report any of these facts.
