Read the following headlines and answer this question: “This is Donald Trump’s America; is it yours?

‘Hanukkah attack assailant kept journals with anti-Semitic views and references to Hitler’
‘Woman accused in Brooklyn hate assault strikes again after she was freed without bail, police say’
‘Trump’s latest call with Putin raises more questions than it answers’
The first three titles are part of what I call “The Trump Effect.” Hate crimes are up more than 800 percent. White supremacists have become emboldened now that they have a leader in the White House. Division between our nation’s people is at a level not seen since the Civil War. The last headline suggest that the demands of Vladimir Putin have priority over the needs of the American people. The content of that phone call was a suspected effort to offer Trump a small amount of credibility and relevance. I must assume Putin was lying to the media.
In just three years Trump has created a ‘New America;’ and it’s not a good America. The rich have become wealthier. Racists and bigots are more open; they have not necessarily grown, they simply don’t hide their emotions any longer. Women are no longer second-class citizens; they have dropped to third place in Trump’s America. Fake Christians have been given undeserved credence and Muslims and Jews have been ostracized and even attacked verbally and physically. Gun violence is at an all-time high and mass murders have become the norm.
I want to inform my readers here that the man who shot and killed the domestic terrorist in a Texas church was a former FBI trained agent by the name of Jack Wilson. He shot the murderer once in the head. Most Americans might have slightly injured or completely missed the man who was armed with a shotgun.
Why should churchgoers believe that it is necessary to carry guns while attending a church service? This situation could easily be remedied. If you are a Muslim, a Jew, or even a Sikh or Hindu, you are not welcome in Trump’s America. Members of the LGBTQ community are treated differently under the law in Trump and Pence’s America. In Trump’s America, women don’t deserve equal pay or equal rights to decide their own mental and physical health. In Trump’s America, if you are not one of our nation’s 704 billionaires or 18.6 million millionaires, you are of no importance.
Is this your America? It’s not mine.
