In 2015 and 2016 approximately 90 percent of Republican politicians rejected Trump’s candidacy. He was labeled immoral, incompetent, unfit, a buffoon, and a racist. On January 20, 2017 every Republican in name only abandoned their principles and morals and chose to support the most evil man in the world. For the last three years they allowed Trump to destroy democracy, establish a fascist agenda, and deny the validity of the Constitution; primarily the first amendment.

Democrats were forced to impeach Trump. His own words and actions violated the Constitution and offered proof of his decision to abuse his powers, forcing impeachment and a subsequent trial in the senate.

I know that the trial of Donald John Trump will be a sham and although the orange man-child is guilty, he will be acquitted by a cowardly and hypocritical Republican Party in name only. However, I will never forget his treason or the fact that an entire political party was willing to allow the demise of the nation created by Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Monroe and others who were courageous and believed that a new nation could change the world.

Today’s Republicans in name only are a disgrace and refuse to support their oaths of office. The Constitution means nothing to them, and statistics prove that their opposition to the needs and wishes of the majority confirm their fascist agenda which would end our nation’s future.

One fact; the primary reason Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives; defines today’s Republicans in name only. Trump attempted to conspire with leaders of foreign nations to gain advantage in the 2020 election.

On Sunday, Alabama Republican, Senator Richard Shelby, appeared on ABC’s “This Week” about the upcoming Senate impeachment trial and whether Trump’s dealings with Ukraine met the standard for an impeachable offense. Host George Stephanopoulos asked him about Trump’s admitted conversation with Ukraine President Zelinsky. Shelby offered the worst defense of all time, claiming that “all presidents were prone to “mistakes of judgment.” Really?

“Well, I don’t know that has actually been proven. That’s all in dispute. I’ve never seen anything where Trump was actually involved in it,” Shelby responded, prompting Stephanopoulos to note that Trump publicly urged China and Ukraine to investigate the Bidens in early October.

It is difficult for me to believe that one entire political party is as ignorant as it appears. Are these old, white men lying? It is far more frightening to believe that they believe the bullshit I hear from them.

Republicans have proven themselves to be the enemy of the American people. They are the “redcoats” of modern day America. The Constitution means nothing to them. I am ashamed that as an Independent I once voted for members of the GOP.
