“If you don’t like something, don’t do it. If you are offended by what you see, don’t look at it.” If you are a bigot, get out of my country; there’s no room for you here.
I dislike people who complain nonsensically about anything that offends their personal feelings or tastes. As a long-time writer I admit that I believe a huge percentage of Americans are just plain stupid. We are a nation of poorly educated and uninformed men and women.
There are a small group of men and women I refer to as “whiny morons.” These are the same people who complained about this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
First, my opinion is of no importance, but I will express it. I believe that the halftime show at Super Bowl 54 was the best in history. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira worked hard for months to put on a spectacular show. I admit that I have only watched a few halftime shows in their entirety, and this was one of them.
When I read that the FCC had 1,312 complaints about the performance of the two women, I was a little angry, and then I laughed my ass off. I thought to myself: “these people obviously watched the show with the intent of complaining about it. Why did they sit through the performance? Why didn’t they turn it off or just walk out of the room?” What did they expect, an elementary school musical production, a church choir, or a children’s recital?
The primary focus of the complaint was that the performances were “not fit for children.” Not that they were right, but I have a solution: “don’t let them watch it.” What did you expect when two women known for their sensual dancing were put on the biggest stage in the world? Are you that stupid?
Of course there were other complaints which you can read in the attached article. After reading them, I believe that many of the women were jealous of a 50-year-old woman capable of moving in ways they could never imagine. I’m also positive that many women were upset that their husbands or boyfriends enjoyed it more than they did.
Finally, religion and religious extremists have no place in America. The first amendment prevents interference by a single religion on events in America. Let’s keep it that way.
