There is a growing group of ‘abolitionists’ who reject the rights of the Supreme Court to decide cases involving abortion. These fake-Religious extremists ignore the right of a woman to decide her own physical and mental health. They label all abortions as murder. Recently some of these groups have renewed threats of physical violence against medical personnel and the women seeking to end a pregnancy.

Before I begin, let’s talk about abortion and whether or not men should have the power to control a woman’s reproductive rights. If you cherish the Constitution; all of it, not just the parts which you agree with; you know that no government, no religion, no individual has the right to control any man or woman’s choice about the health of their own body. Personal rights are one of the most important guarantees in the Bill of Rights.

If you don’t believe in abortion, don’t have one. This is a simple and logical response to the issue which few accept. Everyone has an opinion about this issue, and that’s fair. However, let me use my own beliefs to make a point.

With the exception of rape or incest, I do not believe in abortion: that is my right. However, I support a woman’s decision, and would fight for her right to do so. I cannot have children and therefore I cannot feel the same emotions or be forced to make the most difficult decision of my life.

The ultimate truth is that abortion would not have become such a major issue if the Christian Religious Right had not been allowed to become political. Every time a right-wing politician votes according to the demands of this lobby, he or she is in direct violation of the first amendment.

I fear extremists. The greatest danger to the American people today is from domestic terrorists. Events in Las Vegas, Sutherland Springs Texas, Parkland Florida, El Paso Texas, and many others were committed by white Americans.

Anti-abortion groups are a threat to women who choose to terminate a pregnancy, and the doctors and nurses who perform abortions.

Everyone should find it strange that the life of a partially formed fetus is more important than an adult male involved in a legal medical procedure.

Stand up for women’s rights: remove all Republicans from office who are up for reelection in November.
