The truth is that Donald John Trump is not interested in the health of the American people, his only concern is the economy and his reelection.

First, let’s talk about the economy and how it relates to the coronavirus. Prior to the beginnings of the pandemic, leading economists were forecasting another recession. This was based on his poor decision to place outrageous tariffs on imports and another bad decision to reduce the corporate tax rate to a level so low, several very large corporations paid zero taxes in 2019, including Walmart and Amazon. The result was adding an additional 1.2 trillion dollars to the national deficit.

The coronavirus has become the final ‘poison pill’ for a floundering economy. Trickle-down economics has failed once again as it has since the Reagan administration. The threat of contagion from this virus is so great millions of Americans have been ordered to stay home. Unemployment claims have reached record numbers, and the loss of revenue for small businesses is threatening their survival.

This situation has become Trump’s greatest nightmare. He has refused to order a national ‘stay at home order.’ He is listening to his trade advisor, Peter Navarro, and ignoring our nation’s leading expert on contagious disease, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Navarro and Trump continue to claim that a drug used to fight malaria, hydroxychloroquine, is effective against the coronavirus. Dr. Fauci is reporting the fact that there is no research or reasonable assumption that this drug would be of value to fight the pandemic.

Fauci is not only a medical doctor but has been at the work of tracking and dealing with infectious diseases for decades. He has been an adviser to six(!) presidents on “HIV/AIDS and many other domestic and global health issues,” according to his biography.

Navarro has no medical experience, but continues to disagree with medical facts. The truth is, his opinion is not relevant to this situation, but he continues to be an arrogant “know it all” similar to his boss.

“Doctors disagree about things all the time. My qualifications in terms of looking at the science is that I’m a social scientist. I have a Ph.D. And I understand how to read statistical studies, whether it’s in medicine, the law, economics or whatever.”

The truth is, Navarro is simply another unqualified member of the Trump administration. I cannot offer a single name of a member of Trump’s circle of sinners who has the experience and expertise to perform his or her duties.
