Trump and his circle of sinners are responsible for thousands of lives lost to the coronavirus. Their failure to take action in January delayed the production of PPE and ventilators and refused to take action to create efforts which would slow the spread of the pandemic. If governors in blue states had not taken extreme measures, the death toll would be even higher.
Today more than 1,200,000 Americans have been infected. Because an insufficient number of tests remains a problem, healthcare officials believe that number may be as high as three million. The death total has reached more than 80,000 and experts believe that it will reach 100,000 by the end of May. By comparison, 58,000 Americans lost their lives in the 20-year war in Vietnam.
Today, May 12, 2020, House Democrats passed a second stimulus package. The bill will once again offer funds to nearly all Americans, and include tax credits for small businesses. It will also reinstate the provision known as ‘SALT,’ itemized deductions which were reduced to a maximum of $10,000 after Republicans passed Trump’s “tax reform” bill in 2018. These deductions would continue through 2021. Records show that the average deductions claimed by New York residents in 2017 were $23,804.
However, corporate taxes were greatly reduced permanently, and several major corporations, including Walmart and Amazon paid zero tax dollars in 2019.
The question now becomes, ‘will Trump and Moscow Mitch McConnell support the three trillion-dollar package?’ I doubt that these Republicans in name only will do the right thing.
Trump and Moscow Mitch will once again display their lack of concern for the American people. The economy will greatly affect the November elections, and elections are priority number one. The welfare of the American people will become collateral damage if our nation’s businesses open prematurely.
Trump is not serious about our nation’s economy. He has zero experience in economics other than his many business failures and bankruptcies. For more than three years he bragged about our nation’s economy although the reasons for its strength began during President Obama’s administration. Prior to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, leading economists predicted another recession based on Trump’s failing economic policies.
Trump’s America is a dark fantasy. He has no experience in the real world and therefore knows nothing about our nation and our people. He is the worst thing to happen to the United States in its 244-year history.
