The people should be allowed to elect their president, not states. Our founding fathers believed this was the right of all Americans. They also did not believe in “career politicians.” Longevity leads to corruption and apathy for the majority.
I have watched 12 presidents and numerous congresses cause more harm than good to our country. For the most part, old white men have failed to serve the majority of the American people. Special interests dominate the actions of our government today. Allowing lobbyists to buy votes is a violation of the 14th amendment which provides equal protection and treatment under the law. If the working class does not have the ability to employ lobbyists, it is unconstitutional for the wealthy to have undue influence. No one in our government seems to care.
Today’s Republican Party in Name only is desperate to retain the Electoral College. Our system was originally designed to guarantee one vote for one man. Each vote must be counted. The system today invalidates millions of votes every four years. I’ll use myself as an example. In 2016 I voted for Hillary Clinton. All six of Nevada’s Electoral Votes went to Mrs. Clinton. Anyone who voted for Trump experienced disbelief. Why bother to vote if your vote does not count?
Here’s a simple fact. Bill Clinton won both the popular vote and the Electoral College in 1992. If the popular vote chose the man or woman who would lead our nation for at least four years, Clinton, Al Gore, Barrack Obama, and Hillary Clinton would have resided in the White House for the last 27 years. Although we, the people had spoken, we didn’t matter. This is wrong.
As for term limits, I have another example. Moscow Mitch McConnell has been in the senate for nearly 36 years. His record proves that he is the worst senator in American history. His most recent two actions are unforgivable and he must not have a seventh term.
In February Trump was impeached. The required trial in the senate was a sham. No witnesses and no new evidence were allowed; this is immediate proof that the trial was unfair to the American people and biased for an illegitimate president whose violations of the Constitution are too numerous to list here.
On Moscow Mitch’s desk are more than 320 bills passed by the House since January 3, 2017. This traitor to the American people has refused to allow a vote on the floor of the senate. Issues facing all 330 million Americans are included in these pieces of legislation. Included are voting rights for every man and woman in America, social issues which affect our most needy citizens, women’s rights, and issues which would aid our veterans and their families. Moscow Mitch learned the previous nickname because he refused to allow a vote which would have assisted states in their efforts to prevent a repeat of 2016. The bill would allow each state to apply rules and purchase equipment to prevent interference from a foreign nation in our elections. Moscow Mitch has received election funding from Russian oligarchs and is known as a supporter of Vladimir Putin.
If term limits existed today Moscow Mitch, Chuck Grassley, Lindsey Graham, John Cornyn, and many others who abuse their powers while ignoring the needs and wishes of the American people would no longer be in Washington.
Finally, if a member of the House cannot achieve positive results in eight years, or a senator in 12 years, they should and must be replaced. Power corrupts, and Moscow Mitch and others have proven that their level of corruption is absolute.
