The 2018 midterms were historical. More young men and women voted than at any other time in history. More women were elected in local, state, and federal elections than at any other time in history. Democrats experienced a ‘blue’ or ‘pink’ wave as Republicans lost elections across America in all levels of government.
Two of the most controversial wins by Republicans were in Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis and Senator Rick Scott received their victories after recounts which remain controversial today. As the votes were counted, both men faced growing challenges. However, like magic they witnessed a last minute surge in votes which gave them a win.
Trump talks about ‘voter fraud’ constantly. During the 2016 campaign he claimed the election was ‘rigged.’ He was simply admitting that he was aware his close friend, Vladimir Putin, was interfering in the election. Red states often ‘rig’ elections. In 2018 Secretary of State, Brian Kemp, was in control of the election results. He gave himself the governorship of Georgia. The controversial election has become the topic of discussion whenever voting rights and fair elections are discussed.
Trump has forced investigations into elections lost by unfit Republican candidates, never those in which Democrats were barely defeated and the results were questionable. However, Trump ordered an investigation into the 2018 Florida elections. The orange bully claimed that the elections of Scott and DeSantis were closer than they should have been. He accused the heavily Democratic counties of Broward and Palm Beach of “fraud” and “theft.”
“Law Enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with Election Fraud in #Broward and Palm Beach. Florida voted for Rick Scott!” wrote Trump on Nov. 8, 2018.
The investigation is complete. “A Trump election conspiracy theory has fallen apart after Florida’s law enforcement agency said it had found no widespread voter fraud in the 2018 races for Senate and governor.”
The buffoon in the White House is ignorant and desperate to prove his baseless assumptions. Without knowledge about anything, Trump can only guess and his guesses are always wrong.
I sincerely hope that by ridding our nation of Trump and Republicans, common sense, dignity, and intelligence will return to Washington. I sincerely miss President Obama.
