My criticism is of his party whose ‘knee-jerk’ reaction violated the Constitution and created a baseless fear of all Muslims: all men from predominately Muslim countries. I continue to believe that the Patriot Act is an abomination which allows government to invade our privacy. It is a direct violation of the fourth amendment. All of this is the result of failures by our government to thoroughly investigate threats to our country discovered by the CIA, DIA, NSA, and the FBI.
Although I consider Bush 43 to have been a horrible president, leading us into two unwinnable wars, and creating the great recession which could have become a depression if President Obama had not been elected in 2008, his patriotism is without question.
Today he traveled to Shanksville Pennsylvania, the location of Flight 93’s crash into the ground. Passengers thwarted a possible attack on the White House on 9/11 by forcing the aircraft to plummet into the field near Shansville. He paid tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their own lives on that day, and warned our nation of the greatest danger to our nation today: domestic terrorism.
Mr. Bush warned us about the seriousness of the failed coup on January 6th and that we must defeat those who would destroy our Constitution and our democracy.
“We have seen growing evidence that the dangers to our country can come not only across borders, but from violence that gathers within.
“There is little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But in their disdain for pluralism, in their disregard for human life, in their determination to defile national symbols, they are children of the same foul spirit. And it is our continuing duty to confront them.”
Once again we see proof that today’s Republicans in name only have no resemblance to the once Grand Old Party. These “Trumpists” are fascists who would destroy our nation for their personal benefit. Right-wing politicians have become the enemy of the American people.
Finally, Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush were not effective presidents, but they are patriotic Americans. Trump, Moscow Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, Ron Johnson, Chuck Grassley. John Cornyn, Susan Collins, Josh Hawley, Kevin McCarthy, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Devin Nunes, Matt Gaetz, and many others who claim to be Americans are not.
