State of the Union? It Sucks Really Bad

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

Remember, this article is written by a 79-year-old man who, with his wife, relies on Social Security for his entire income. Therefore, I did not need to listen to Trump lie about the economy during last night’s speech. For example, our grocery bill yesterday was 168 dollars, about 50 dollars more than the average less than two years ago.

A LIST OF TRUMP’S LIES. AM I WRONG?

I have not read the long and extremely boring speech from last night’s clown show, because I don’t need to. Trump says the same things over and over again, and none of them have substance. None of them apply to efforts for  improving the lifestyles of the majority.

His first lie was probably a statement falsely claiming that his administration is the greatest in history. His next lie likely involved the economy. Although most Americans fear signs of another recession, and possibly a depression, Trump’s lie claimed it is far better than under President Biden. Next came lies about America being the greatest country in the world, thanks to him. I’m certain that he made time to blame Democrats for several recent disasters, and to attack the recent Supreme Court decision about  his illegal tariffs. He probably saved his biggest lie for last. Although his approval ratings are the lowest in history, he most certainly claimed that they were the opposite: the highest in history. You definitely have a mentally deranged president.

I REMEMBER LOOKING FORWARD TO PRESIDENT OBAMA’S STATE OF THE UNION SPEECHES.

One important responsibility required of every one of our 47 presidents is to give our nation’s people hope, regardless of the current situation. President Obama offered his plans to save America’s economy from the failures of George W. Bush’s previous eight years. I believed that America would do better and be better. I was right until January 20, 2017.

However, as long as Trump is breathing, hope is not possible. In simple terms, Trump is a “downer.” He hates my America. He called the White House “a dump” in 2017, and in 2025 he destroyed a huge part of our nation’s most cherished edifice.

Trump is “Dr. Destructo.” His ambition for the next three years is to destroy everything which made our nation the most respected in the world, while increasing his personal wealth. In 2025 Trump’s businesses made a profit of more than four billion dollars.

WAS I RIGHT?

I’m sure I failed to mention other issues which were equally fallacious and boring. What I know is, I missed nothing of importance, nothing which had any direct effect on my life. I’m sure that will soon change.

One final question: how much of Trump’s bullshit were you able to listen to before you changed the channel?
