When Stephen Colbert announced that the parent company of CBS, Paramount, had cancelled his popular late night television show last summer, I was furious. One of the first things I did was to cancel my Paramount streaming service.

In October of 2025, Trump sycophant, Bari Weiss, was hired to run the CBS News division. I no longer watch “60 Minutes,” a show I previously considered one of the best shows on broadcast television.

MOST OF MY ADULT LIFE

I was a high school sophomore in 1962, and still living in my mother’s home. Every weekday evening, we watched Walter Cronkite on the CBS Evening News. We trusted him and believed everything he told us.

I don’t watch television “news” today, and have not since November 9, 2016. I refuse to be lied to by the millionaires in front of the cameras, controlled by their owners who are billionaires, and serve Fuhrer Donald Trump.

Censorship of the truth is now SOP at CBS.

TRUMP NOW CONTROLS CBS AND THE TRUTH WILL BE QUASHED

Under orders from Paramount, CBS recently hired Jeremy Adler. Adler appears to be a “nobody.” However, his addition to Trump’s inner circle is clear, and he will assist Weiss in her efforts to save Trump’s humongous ass.

Adler will control all communications within CBS. It is also evident that he will be in close contact with those who serve Trump in what I now refer to as “the Black House.” Everything which happens inside our once most treasured edifice is dark and foreboding for America’s future.

WHY DID OUR FOUNDING FATHERS GIVE PROTECTION TO THE FOURTH ESTATE

If you know the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment, you know that our nation’s press was given protection related to the stories they print. The purpose of this inclusion is clear. They were expected to expose crime and corruption which occurs frequently on Capitol Hill and inside the White House.

In 2026, all “news” organizations conspire with right-wing extremists in all three branches of our government. Owners of these companies are oligarchs and control your future as they collude with the orange buffoon pretending to be your president.

Sadly, the only truth you will hear is from independent writers like me.

A SAD BUT NECESSARY GOOD-BYE

I must inform you that I feel I have wasted too much time attempting to save our country and will no longer offer you the facts as TheWiseOldFart.

I will be an octogenarian in less than four months, and time is more valuable than anything else. I will write, but spend my efforts on novels and other more interesting and satisfying stories.

I wish you all the best. However, my hopes are fading. The world has allowed one fat, old, fascist to destroy the accomplishments of good men and women over the last century.
